Environmental and Ethical Values

Alexander Rose takes its environmental and ethical responsibilities very seriously. Sustainable sourcing for products, combined with the utilisation of factories that possess good employee conditions, has long been our way of business and fundamental to our core beliefs and values.
- Quality and safety will not be compromised.
- We will know the stories of our products; and consequently the well being of the environment and the people involved.
- The timber we use will be from well managed forests.
- We will seek to minimise the environmental impact of other associated raw materials we use.
- Working conditions in our supplier factories and throughout the supply chain will meet the highest standards.
- We will dedicate resouces to the development of carbon footprint reduction across our diverse range of product materials.
- We will not over package our products, and we will maximise our use of recyclable materials for packaging.
- We will explain to our consumers how to minimise the impact on the environment by recommending regular maintenance and care products, to prolong the longevity of our products.
- We will design our products to make recycling as easy as possible
- We will minimise the need to use toxic chemicals in our products and their production processes.
As part of our commitment to using timber from well managed forests, the majority of our wood comes from FSC sources, and where this is not the case, we make our own assessments to the adequacy of well managed forests. By the end of 2010 we are committed that at least 80% of our timber will be from FSC accredited sources.
At our initial supplier factory in Mim, Ghana, we have a long history of local involvement, and this extends to the development of the local school.
