Natural cracks occur in timber as the wood absorbs moisture and dries due to the climatic variation. This causes the timber to expand and contract which creates natural cracks on the surface. This will not affect the durability of your furniture. If you can fit a 10p coin into the crack, this may be a manufacturing fault and you can contact us for our advice.
